Nothing is Impossible

I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (ESV) Philippians 4:13

This is Paul’s testimony about how he lived a life through the power of God in good and bad times (Phil. 4:12). We can live a joyful life in every situation through the power of God. You can do everything in every good or bad situation through Christ, who gives His power to your life. God’s power comes to us through constant dependency upon Him. Moreover, God’s power comes to us through the indwelling presence of Jesus in us. It comes to us through our intimate union with Christ. Paul says he lives “in Christ” (Phil. 3:9). Christ’s grace is sufficient for him to face every situation. Christ is the source of wisdom, encouragement, and strength in his life.

In every life situation, Jesus infuses His strength into Paul. This is why he testified, “Wherefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in insults, in distresses, in persecutions and frustrations, for when I am weak, then I am strong” (II Cor. 12:10). Many people apply this verse to gratify their selfish desires by stepping out of the will of God. The power of God will manifest in us only when we live in the will of God. This is the reason Paul expressed paradoxes: He was strong when he was weak! He was independent (self-sufficient) only when he was dependent!

Our victory comes only when we continuously depend upon God, especially in hard times. It is easy to doubt God in difficult times and forget God in good times. A victorious living through the power of God comes through a constant dependency upon Jesus in every situation. Victories through the power of God are simply a result of our life in Christ or intimacy with Christ. Impossibilities will bow before Jesus when we have intimacy with God by having a constant dependency and union with Christ.

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." This is not a simple declaration or claim; rather, it is the confidence of everyone who lives in intimacy with Christ.
