Winning Battles Through Worship

And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed. (ESV) 2 Chronicles 20:22

Worship is very powerful. It is all about lifting up God through our praises and thanksgiving. Jehoshaphat and his kingdom were in trouble because of the enemy army that wanted to attack them. However, Jehoshaphat and his people turned to God and cried out to Him. When they went to war, a worship team led their army in worship. In v.22, God defeated the enemy army when Jehoshaphat and his people began to sing and praise God. Worship includes singing, clapping, shouting, kneeling, lifting hands, dancing, and more. As we meaningfully engage in worship, we lift up God over everything. This releases God’s power over situations.

In Jehoshaphat’s case, they won the battle by worshipping God, fasting, and praying. As Jehoshaphat and his people worshipped, God defeated their enemy army. Worship can open up huge spiritual blessings. When people engaged in worship, the Bible reveals that: God’s people received more revelation of Him; the Jericho wall came down; the glory of God appeared in the form of a cloud in the temple; and all chains of Paul and Silas were broken. Worship is a portal to victory and the presence of God. Jehoshaphat and the others worshipped God in their difficult hour and circumstances of impossibility. No matter how difficult the situation, we need to learn to lift up God through worship. Worship brings victory, breakthroughs, God’s presence, deliverance, and more. Like Jehoshaphat, we can take victory over battles through worship. Worship God in every battle and situation.
