Inquiring God
So David inquired of God, “Should I go to war against the Philistines? Will You hand them over to me?” The Lord replied, “Go, and I will hand them over to you.” (HCSB) 1 Chronicles 14:10
Inquiring of God
Inquiring of God to make life decisions was one of the lifelong habits that David had. If you carefully read his life story, you will see how he asked for direction from the Lord in his life situations. One of the keys to hearing God is to ask for His direction. Ask questions to God. Call upon Him, and He will answer you. Oftentimes, we are carried away by the pressure of our life situations. Pressure and fear can be hindrances to hearing God. However, when we tune into God and ask questions by seeking His face, He will answer us with His gentle voice. Another key to hearing God's voice is to obey His voice that has already come to us. David continuously obeyed God's voice. He never questioned it. Perhaps David was a man after God's own heart because he knew the heart of God by continuously hearing God about his life situations. God has His plan, purpose, and perspective about everything in our lives. Simply asking questions about situations will reveal God's voice to us. Develop a habit of inquiring of God in every life situation. This will change your life.
Here are a few questions that you may ask God to hear His voice:
- What do you like about me?
- What do you think about the situation?
- What do you feel about the situation?
- What is your heart about this person who is speaking to me?
- What should I do in this situation?
- What should I speak to this person?
- What do you want me to do today?
- How can I represent your heart to this person?
We ask these kinds of questions to our Papa God as His beloved sons and daughters. He will whisper to our ears through the Holy Spirit.
