Worship Him in the Congregation
1 My heart is steadfast, O God!
I will sing and make melody with all my being!
2 Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn!
3
I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations. (ESV) Psalms 108:1-3
We are created to worship God. Heavenly beings worship God continuously without a break. These
beings have direct access to the majesty, beauty, and power of God. Worship starts with our revelation
about God. In Ps.108, God reveals some aspects of worship.
1. Sing to God with all our being. Our body, soul and spirit should involve in worship. It means that our
thoughts, emotions and physical expressions should be directed to God in worship. God expects a very active involvement of our entire being in worship. We are not spectators of worship, but we are
worshippers.
2. Singing to God with musical instruments. One of the beautiful and wonderful gifts that God has given
to us is music. There is a misunderstanding that time of worship means time of singing. Music is not
equal to worship. And worship is not equal to music. As there is a saying that, “In true worship, every
worship need not have music in it, but every music needs to have worship in it”. Sing to the Lord. Do not
keep quiet. There is power in you praise.
3. Worship him in the congregation: it is God’s desire that we worship him in the presence of our
congregation. “Let them extol him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of
the elders.” (ESV) Psalms 107:32. We should not hide what God is doing in our lives. Instead, we need to
proclaim them in the congregation and glorify our great God.
